Ken Hoffman has been a popular, must-read columnist in the Houston Chronicle for 20 years. He covers everything from politics to pop concerts to sports to everyday life in Texas. His weekly Drive-Thru Gourmet reviews are syndicated to newspapers across the United States. In addition to writing his regular column, Ken is the voice behind the Pethouse Pet of the Week column that has found homes for thousands of shelter dogs in Houston. Before joining the Chronicle, he was the lead columnist for the Houston Post for eight years. Ken was raised in New Jersey but found his home in Texas.
Ken Hoffman makes any event memorable! His engaging style, quick wit and engaging storytelling make him the perfect speaker for any occasion. He'll have you thinking and laughing at the same time. Whatever the topic – current events, journalism, food, politics or his random thoughts – listening to Ken speak is like his newspaper column come to life.
As vice president of the Lake Conroe Area Republican Women, my primary responsibility was to secure excellent speakers for our group of more than 300 members. We had speakers such as Ted Cruz, George P. Bush, David Dewhurst, etc. But, who does everyone love and remember, Ken Hoffman, the antithesis of our prototype speaker! Husbands actually wanted to come with their wives to the country club luncheon. As that saying goes, “he had them at hello.” They laughed out loud and they paused with reflection as he shared the thoughts and events behind some of his most memorable columns. His stand-up, everyday persona, coupled with his truly amazing ability to see the story behind what is a non-story to most, is a joy – a real feel-good, oh what fun, I am so glad I came, experience. My recommendation -- Grab him while you can.
